Leaping Light Room
I was tasked with designing a room of my own. I wanted a room I could share with animals, and wondered-what I could provide to New Mexican desert animals.
The natural rhythms of the desert can be predictable and unchanging, but rainfall and finding water in the desert proved to be the least consistent, yet most necessary for its inhabitants. My goal was to give animals of all sorts a place to go when New Mexicos natural springs and rivers went dry during the months of less rainfall. The Leaping Light Room was arranged by organizing 3 main drinking troughs, scaled to all different sized desert animals, creating a watering hole that will be able to provide water.
The Leaping Light Room sits in a valley between two mountains in the Northern part of New Mexico.
The Room is open air and is constructed to reflect the layers of sand and desert around it. The Room is open to the stars, and the moon.
