GrowNYC Design Build

This summer I worked and lead in partnership with Ross Myren the 2022 Parsons Design Workshop project, a relocation of GrowNYC's Teaching Garden on Governors Island. Through many iterations and ideas, our team decided that building an entryway this summer would be the perfect starting point for the redesign of GrowNYC's new Teaching Garden. We first started by hosting two events on the new site to observe how people of all ages would interact with GrowNYC's programming. During the build we leveled and surveyed our site, an old dumping ground for compost, railroad materials, and home to a thicket of weeds. We manually dug 8, 4' holes for our concrete footings, poured those 8 footings, and fully erected the cedar structure with the help of our team.
